Step-by-step procedure on How to book train tickets in Egypt online?
Egypt train schedules are hard to find online but one can directly go to their official website.
1. Register at the official website
- Visit the Egyptian Railway’s official website
enr.gov.eg
- Change language to English
- Sign up using your email ID
- Once you log in, read all the terms and conditions before proceeding
- Click “I agree to the terms and conditions above”
Tip: Only if you click this option, the page proceeds
2. Select your trip type
- Choose your departure point in Egypt train station, destination points, coach type, passenger type, and travel dates
Tip: You can book tickets only up to a month in advance. So if you travel in May, don’t try during January. Instead, try during April. Don’t worry, trains are usually empty. At the same time Egypt train ticket availability is suject to demand. So consider booking as soon as the booking windows open.
Tip: Egypt train ticket prices are very economical. The First-class coaches are easily affordable for a foreigner. So I highly recommend it.
Optional step: To know more about the Egypt train timetable, click the option ‘Train schedule’ on the top left. In my case, I knew that I was traveling from Cairo to Luxor.
3. Select train and enter particulars
- Now the window populates with the list of train connections between these points.
- Next, enter your particulars such as Name, Nationality, and birth date, and proceed
Tip: The server throws an error if you enter details in the wrong format. So be patient.
- Finally, a summary window shows all the details. Check it once before proceeding
Note: Any name change or error won’t be accepted. So be careful
4. Proceed to payment
Here you have two options
- Visa
- Master
Enter your details and that’s it. You are done
Booking successful
The confirmed tickets are sent to your mail-id as a pdf. Alternatively, you can log in and download it manually from your account. This Egyptian Railways e-ticket is your proof of travel.
