One of the famous day trips to do in Tirana is to visit the Bunk’art Museum combined with the Dajti Ekspres cable car ride to the top.
The experience to the top of the stunning Dajti Mountain is underrated with fewer tourists visiting as it lies in the city outskirts.
In this blog, I shall show you how to reach the cable car by public transport, ticket prices, and activities to do at the top. Beware that this cable car ride is not for those who are afraid of heights.

Dajki Ekspres by public transport
If you decide to use public transport, you must reach the main bus station at the Tirana city centre located behind the Palace of Culture.
The blue buses with the title L.11 Bashkia Tirana will take you close to the base of the Dajti Ekspres cable car. From there, you have to walk for about 15 min up the hill ( be ready for a steep walk).
A single bus ride costs 40 Lek and the journey takes ~ 20 minutes. Tirana public transport suggests a list of things you can do in 1,2,3 days.
There is no dedicated bus stop name. So ask the driver to drop you near Bunk’art. I have indicated it in maps. From the bus stop, one has to walk up the hill for 15 minutes to reach the cable car entrance.
I suggest you do the cable car first in the morning, followed by lunch, and then visit the Bunk’art museum in the afternoon.
The museum was initially built to survive in case of a nuclear attack. There are few pizza shops at this junction and the prices are reasonable.
Dajti Ekspres Cable car highlights
- The cable car ride covers a massive 4.3 km distance taking over 15 minutes of travel time. It’s well above the majority of the cable car rides in the world, longer than the one in India.
- Inaugurated in 2005, the cable car can carry up to 560 passengers up the hill per hour.
- In terms of duration, this was the longest I have ever been. It is advertised as the longest cable car in the Balkan region offering a scenic journey, breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable moments.
Activities at the top
The Dajti Ekspres cable car offers Tirana aerial views. The top has many stunning viewpoints, a photo balcony like the Couples Heart, and a chicken coop.
If you are short on time, you can spend a couple of hours before you take the cable car down.
But if you have an entire day, explore the Dajti Ekspres family-friendly activities like Mini golf, an Adventure park, Roller skating, Paragliding, and a Kids’ playground.
It also includes a hotel with a rooftop and a lounge Bar.
Dajti Ekspres ticket prices
Ekspres cable car tickets round trip cost 7€ and are worth every penny. On the top, the mini golf costs 10€/person and the adventure park 12€/person. I have included more prices in the below picture.
Dajti Ekspres opening hours – 9 am to 5 pm.
Overall, one can visit the Dajti Ekspres cable car in Tirana for the massive 4.3 km long ride, with the Best views in Tirana
I don’t think one can easily find a cable car with a longer duration for an economical price.
