Which Ferry?
Blue Star Ferries is the cheapest operator in this route: Athens <—-> Mykonos. Other than that, they have a wide range of routes to places like Chios, Delos, Patmos, Paros. Check the official website for more info.
Starting point
The Ferry departs from Athens Pireas port at 7.30 am. Reach the port early as you have to collect your tickets at the counter even if you book online. We reached around 6.30 am and few coffee shops were already open.
Duration
The specified travel duration when you book tickets from Athens to Mykonos is 4.5 hours. But practically expect it last about 5 or 5.15 hours.
Tip: A Ferry or Cruise leaving a dock is always fascinating to watch. So don’t miss it.
Price
One way ticket costs 29€. For this price, you get a deck seat. It means you are allowed to sit anywhere on the Ferry’s deck. There are no reservations. If the journey is overnight or you need personal space, then opt for a cabin seat. It costs ~ 65€ and comes with a berth.
Stops at Syros and Tinos
In between the journey, the Ferry stops in two small islands (Syros and Tinos). If you have more time, try doing a hop on hop off to these islands.

Luggage storage
There is a special area to store your luggage. They are free but not protected by anyone. It works on a trust basis. So have your personal stuff and travel documents like passport along with you.
Bar
There is also a small bar serving drinks and coffee. As one expects, the prices are a bit higher.
Viewpoints
The Ferry’s open upper deck is the striking point. Grab a drink, sit down enjoy the Ferry sailing through the sea. The views are breathtaking, a perfect spot for pictures.
Note: After an hour, expect seasickness. So be prepared.

- Go the official website ‘Blue Star Ferries‘ and click ‘Book Online’
- Enter particulars like dates, departure and arrival port, number of passengers and proceed
- Now select your seat type, vehicles type if any
- Proceed to payment and finish the booking using a visa, master, or maestro cards.
- Booking confirmation pops up in your email. Produce this confirmation number in the counter and get your actual travel ticket.
Note: The booking doesn’t open months in advance. You can book only a few weeks prior to your trip
